US Beef Exports to Japan Increase in March - USMEF

Although exports fell 7% to 21,412 tonnes in March, it was the highest in 12 months.

With a persistently weak yen putting severe pressure on consumer purchasing power, exports to Japan in the first quarter fell 10% from a year earlier to 62,692 tonnes, although the value of exports fell only marginally (-1%) to $469.7 million.

Japan's central bank took steps last week to strengthen the yen, which recently fell to its lowest level against the U.S. dollar since 1990.
