Chuvash broiler flies and counts chickens in the spring

Recently, at the long-suffering poultry farm "Chuvashsky Broiler", which is near the village of Shinerposi, Cheboksary region, an apparently unremarkable event took place - the laying of the first batch of chicken eggs. From the point of view of technology, this process is not particularly difficult, especially of public interest, but given the impact on the economy of the republic, its importance can hardly be overestimated. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the revival of an enterprise that was declared bankrupt a few years ago and seemed to have died forever was actually launched. The miraculous rescue of the Chuvash Broiler was due to the VDS company, whose permanent leader is Anatoly Fedorov. A significant event happened at the end of May 2018, when the Chuvash Broiler officially changed its owner. But there was no immediate miracle.

“It couldn't have been otherwise,” says Anatoly Fedorov. – I don’t like to complain, but they didn’t upgrade equipment before, didn’t introduce modern technologies, but only pumped out profit. That team slowly but surely led the Chuvash Broiler to bankruptcy. To breathe new life into it, we had to go through fire and water.

What about copper pipes?

- They will. Now a new stage has begun in the history of the enterprise. We are systematically, every week we will populate shop after shop. We have 26 workshops in total. When we launch seven, it will be possible to ensure continuous production. Broiler production technology has been developed. This is the rearing of replacement young stock, the production of hatching eggs, the incubation of eggs and the breeding of hybrid young stock from individuals of the parent stock and, finally, the finishing stage: the rearing and slaughter of broilers. For this, the enterprise has everything: incubation, fattening, slaughter and processing workshops. Moreover, each room is equipped in accordance with the requirements for the conditions of keeping birds. Currently, the premises are being prepared: in accordance with SanPiN, they are washed, chemically treated and other operations are carried out. The broodstock has already been delivered from Penza. The first chick hatch is expected in early April. By tradition, we will sell daily and reared chickens to the population, as well as to peasant farms. So the process has begun.

- VDS is one of the largest companies in Chuvashia, which is engaged in the construction of roads. And suddenly, as if for no reason, she began to invest in agriculture, in particular, in the production of broiler meat. Why would?

- Let me correct you. We started doing agriculture not suddenly and not, as you put it, “for no reason at all”. The decision to invest in the agricultural sector was influenced by several factors, both subjective and objective. Maybe it sounds a little high-flown and stereotyped, but I was born and raised in the village and I care about its fate. Yes, now I continue to live in the village of Churachiki, Tsivilsky district.

- Once this village was the central estate of the Bronevik state farm, and Leninets was located next door. As far as I remember, both farms in the Tsivilsky district have always been lagging behind.

- That's it, that's right. About ten years ago, the then head of the district administration, Nikolai Evdokimov, asked. He persuaded me to undertake the restoration of these farms, naturally, in a different legal status of the GVA. The fact is that they went through a series of transformations and bankruptcies. When we took them, we had only 250 hectares of farmland, and now there are 40 times more of them.

We are engaged in the production of agricultural products in four municipal districts: Tsivilsky, Cheboksary, Kanashsky and Alikovsky. We grow cereals, row crops and industrial crops, such as corn for grain. We get a good profit. There is no special secret: we cultivate the soil in time, we sow and harvest at the best agrotechnical terms, that is, we strictly comply with all the requirements of agricultural science. A good help for us is our machine and tractor fleet, which is equipped with the most modern high-performance equipment, for example, German combine harvesters, Claas tractors and other types of equipment. Therefore, there has not yet been a single case where at least half a hectare of unharvested grain went under the snow.

– Do you sell the harvest or process it into feed?

- Both. We have established our own feed production. So, we process corn grain into bird feed. There are many mouths, because we are also developing animal husbandry. For example, we have a dairy herd of 500 heads, and the total number of livestock is 1000 heads. It is kept on the dairy farm of the former Luch SHPK, which arose on the ruins of the Leninets state farm.

“But there is nothing left of the former farm, except for one cowshed – as if in memory of descendants – and several buildings. Now it is a modern dairy farm with a high degree of mechanization of labor-intensive processes, with its own feed mill, showers, warm toilets, changing rooms and other amenities for staff.

- I agree with you. Do you know how much this pleasure cost us? In 385 million rubles! I will give you just one example. For each heifer we paid 200 thousand rubles. But the costs are worth it, because our cows are of a highly productive breed and, as a result, we have increased the annual milk yield from each forage cow to 6,000 liters of milk, in terms of 8,000 liters. And this is not the limit for us. Now that we have begun to receive returns from animal husbandry, we have the opportunity to transfer funds to start production in the shops of the Chuvash Broiler.

- At the very beginning of our conversation, you spoke about the fate of the village.

Yes, this problem worries me a lot. Without the reorganization of the countryside, it is impossible to develop the agricultural sector, even if you are three times provided with modern tractors and combines.

You don't have to go far, let's take my native village of Churachiki. Without false modesty, I will say that our company is, so to speak, a village-forming enterprise. It is clear that the lion's share of the costs of the social reconstruction of the village was borne by the GVA.

It's good that we won the competition under the program "Rural Development" through the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic. But the conditions are tough. So, for the construction of a school, which is mainly financed from the federal and regional budgets, the municipality must allocate 10 percent, that is, 34 million rubles, as part of co-financing. But there is nowhere to get that kind of money in the area. This is where we lend a helping hand. In addition, the Ministry of Health of Chuvashia plans to open a medical outpatient center and other social facilities. In a word, we are not sitting idly by - we are working.

- Thank you for the interview.
