Brazil reports record meat exports for September

Brazil's MEAT exports in September were the highest in 24 years, according to official data. Last month, Brazil exported 187,017 tons of fresh, chilled and frozen beef, 101,897 tons of pork and 388,951 tons of poultry and edible offal, up 20% from last year. September data is the largest monthly volume since the Foreign Office began keeping records in 1997, according to Agricensus.

In addition, monthly volumes lifted total exports since the beginning of the calendar year to a record high of 1.27 million tons of beef, 776,620 tons of pork and 3.2 million tons of poultry meat.

The outstanding performance of Brazilian beef and pork exports is underpinned by the fact that 56% of beef and 55% of pork shipments to date have been linked to Asian countries. CHINA remained the main market for Brazilian poultry meat exports , accounting for 16% of shipments in September.

Poultry meat shipments to China in the first three quarters of 2021 fell 3% year-on-year, but were more than offset by rising demand in other markets, notably Mexico, the Philippines, Chile, the United Arab Emirates and the South Africa.
