Argentina cuts beef export duty

Argentine President Javier Miley's decision partially fulfills a promise to farmers that his administration would reduce and eventually eliminate taxes on food products of which the country is or has been a major global exporter.

In this particular case, the decision also means a rapprochement with CHINA, which he criticized so much during his election campaign and first months in power , but which is Argentina's main MEAT market.

The latest figures from meat exporters show that China accounts for 81% of Argentina's beef sales, Israel 6%, the US 5%, Germany 4% and the Netherlands 3.6%.
