Deputy Prosecutor General: during harvesting, increased supervision of discipline is needed

The results of the work for the first half of the year were summed up at the collegium of the prosecutor's office of the Vitebsk region with the participation of Deputy Prosecutor General Sergei Khmaruk, BelTA informs citing the information service of the regional prosecutor's office.

The meeting participants discussed the crime situation in the region, the problematic aspects of preventive work, including with minors. it was noted that issues related to the violation of anti-corruption legislation and the protection of the interests of the state are under special control. The problems of restoring order in the sphere of the agro-industrial complex, preventing the non-productive disposal of cattle, and monitoring the progress of the harvesting campaign were also considered. Sergiy Khmaruk focused on strengthening supervision over executive and labor discipline during the sowing and harvesting campaigns.

The Chairman of the Collegium, Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region Igor Ukrainets, noted that thanks to the coordinated joint activities of law enforcement agencies and other prevention entities, it was possible to counteract some negative trends in the field of law enforcement and public security. "The results of the work depend on the coherence of the actions of all departments, the high-quality implementation of the functions assigned to them. To do this, prosecutors need to make full use of both coordinating powers and an immediate response to identified violations in order to eliminate them and, no less important, to prevent them in the future" , - he said.

The number of crimes registered in the region decreased by 11.6%, the total number of victims decreased by almost 7%, and the number of deaths decreased by 8%. At the same time, the number of crimes committed while intoxicated increased by 1.6% , as well as by 37.7% - by a group of persons. The number of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm increased from 39 to 45 (by 15.4%), crimes of mercenary orientation: by 4.9% - theft, by 8.8% - robbery, by 31.4% - fraud, by 21 1% - in the field of drug control and combating human trafficking.

The Collegium of the Prosecutor's Office of the Vitebsk region identified specific measures aimed at strengthening the rule of law and order in the region, ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens.
