More than 1.5 thousand drunk drivers were detained in the Grodno region in 10 months

November 11, MINSK. In the Grodno region, 1,565 drunk drivers were detained in 10 months, BelTA learned from the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee.

An average of 3-4 such drivers were detained daily. On weekends and holidays, this number usually increases.

"On November 10, at about 10 p.m., police officers detained a drunk driver in Grodno. A 51-year-old man drank ALCOHOL throughout the day, and in the evening he got behind the wheel of a Ford car. On Malakhovichskaya Street, he was stopped by officers of the Security Department, who revealed signs of alcohol intoxication in the driver . The traffic police inspectors were called, they took the man for examination. The result was 2.6 ppm of alcohol in the body," the traffic police said. Now the violator faces a fine of 200 basic units and deprivation of a driver's license for 5 years.

"Unfortunately, our roads are not without accidents involving drunks. During the specified period, 247 such drivers became participants in accidents. Drunk drivers are to blame for 25 car accidents with victims registered over 10 months," the traffic police noted.
