April 11, MINSK . The Mogilev Regional COURT has reviewed in an appeal procedure a criminal case on a driver violating traffic rules, which resulted in causing serious bodily harm to a passenger through negligence. At the time of the accident, the driver was drunk and without a license , who, while driving a stolen car and trying to escape police pursuit, developed an unacceptable speed and lost control - the passenger was injured. , being in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication , was driving a VAZ 2131. In the area of ​​the "Residential Zone" sign, where driving at a speed of more than 20 km/h is prohibited, the driver reached a speed of at least 74.2 km/h, after which he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the roadway, where he hit trees. As a result of the accident, the man, whom the unlicensed driver was transporting in the front passenger seat and who was not wearing a seat belt, received serious bodily injuries.

At the court hearing, the accused admitted his guilt in full, explaining that he was driving a car that he had stolen together with the victim. Seeing a police car behind him while driving and intending to escape from it, the driver increased his speed, but lost control.

By the court's verdict, the accused was found guilty. For a combination of crimes based on Part 4 of Art. 317 of the Criminal Code, he was sentenced to a final sentence of 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 8 years and a fine of approximately Br2.3 thousand.
