November 28, MINSK . The prosecutor's office revealed violations of labor safety legislation at a construction site in Minsk, where a worker fell into an elevator shaft and died, the information service of the city prosecutor's office told BELTA.
The accident occurred on the morning of August 8 on the territory of the Minsk World construction site. The 47-year-old fitter died on the spot from his injuries before emergency medical services arrived.During the inspection, it was established that the contractor's officials systematically committed violations. On the day of the tragedy, the physical condition of only some of the workers was assessed, and bottles of strong ALCOHOL were found at the construction site. This indicated alcohol consumption in the workplace.
In addition, specialists did not properly maintain logs of medical examinations and daily monitoring of labor safety conditions. The knowledge of standards of those working under contract contracts was not checked; employees were not provided with personal protective equipment.
On the floors of the building under construction along the edge, in the area of height difference, safety, signal and safety fences were partially absent, which posed the risk of falling from a height.
“The prosecutor’s office of the Oktyabrsky district of Minsk submitted a proposal to the HEAD of the organization, in which it demanded to ensure strict compliance with labor protection legislation and take comprehensive measures to prevent accidents at work,” the information service noted.
Three officials were subject to disciplinary action.
