February 13, Ivye. In Ivye, the first day of consideration of a criminal case on torture and intentional infliction of less serious bodily harm against a minor has ended, BELTA correspondent reports.
A resident of the Ivyevsky district, born in 1981, was in the dock. According to the case file, the woman tortured her one-and-a-half-year-old son from March to September 2023. So, she fixed the child’s shoes to the floor with screws and forced him to stand in them, subjected him to beatings, deprived him of sleep, and forced him to stay awake. Also, according to the case materials, being able
alcohol intoxication , deliberately subjected her son to beating, namely, she struck him at least 16 times with her hands on various parts of the
head and body, causing bodily injuries, which in total have signs of less serious bodily injuries.
On September 13, 2023, the boy became ill and lost consciousness. According to the accused, she found him on the floor in an unnatural position, pale, and decided that he had choked on a toy. According to her, the child was not breathing, so she began to shake him, slapped him on the cheeks, performed artificial respiration, and slapped him on the back. The child began to breathe. Since the mother realized that the boy had a fever, she gave him medicine. The woman decided that the increase in temperature was caused by the fact that the child was teething, and added that she had previously observed a similar reaction to teeth in June.
After that, she went to her neighbors to ask them to put
money on their phone to contact her husband. She did not ask to call an ambulance. Returning home, the woman found her son not breathing. She tried to bring him to his senses. Having discovered that phlegm had accumulated in the child’s throat, she attempted to clear the tract with the help of a medicine dispenser. Afterwards, according to the defendant, she again gave the medicine to her son and called her husband, and only after that she called an ambulance. The child was hospitalized and later died.
The woman has been deprived of parental rights in relation to seven children. She was married, and then lived with her partner, from whom two children were born, including the deceased boy.
The woman did not admit guilt. She was charged under Part 2 of Article 154, Part 2 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code and faces up to five years in prison.
Today at the trial the accused, the victim, and witnesses were questioned. The defendant's lawyer petitioned to call a witness who had not been announced earlier. The
court hearing will continue tomorrow. The case is being considered by the Ivyevsky District
Court .
