The Gomel prosecutor's office supported in
COURT the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 32-year-old local resident who intentionally caused serious bodily harm to his pregnant cohabitant. BELTA was informed about this by the information service of the Gomel Region Prosecutor's Office.
In August 2023, the accused had a conflict with his partner. Knowing that his girlfriend is pregnant, he is able
drunk, stabbed her at least 19 times in the
HEAD, neck, upper limbs and torso. As a result, the victim suffered multiple cut wounds, which caused her special suffering and agony.
After long-term treatment and rehabilitation, scars have formed at the site of wound healing on the woman’s face and neck, which will not completely disappear. According to the expert's conclusion, they are indelible and give her appearance an unpleasant, repulsive appearance, which is why they are classified as grievous bodily harm.
At the court hearing, the victim admitted that as a result of what happened, including taking medications during treatment, she was forced to terminate the pregnancy, fearing for
the HEALTH of the fetus.
In court, the defendant did not admit his guilt and did not repent of his actions.
Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Gomel Central District
Court issued a guilty verdict. Based on clauses 1-1, 3 part 2 of Article 147 of the Criminal Code, the accused was sentenced to imprisonment for seven years to be served in a correctional colony under a high security regime.
The court also recovered Br15 thousand from the Gomel resident in favor of the victim to compensate for moral damage caused by the crime.
The verdict came into force.
