December 4,
Minsk . The Vitebsk
Prosecutor's Office, after reviewing the materials of a pre-investigation investigation to protect the rights and legitimate interests of a woman, opened a criminal case under a private-public prosecution against a 42-year-old local resident. The man is accused of systematically beating his 69-year-old mother, the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office information service told BelTA. According
to the case file, the man, both
intoxicated and sober, physically assaulted his mother in her home over several weeks, causing her to fear for her life. He threw a mobile phone at the pensioner during any conflict.
For example, in September of this year,
an intoxicated Vitebsk resident threw a mobile phone at a woman's
head because she couldn't quickly find
money for him for
alcohol . The blow tore her ear and caused profuse bleeding, requiring medical assistance to stop the bleeding.
At least two more instances of the victim inflicting various bodily injuries in a similar manner—throwing a mobile phone in her face—have been established.
The pensioner refused to file a criminal complaint against her son, fearing retaliation.
"Given that the unlawful actions constituted an attack on the life and
health of a person, which affects the vital interests of the state and society aimed at protecting the rights of citizens, and taking into account
the man's personality , the prosecutor deemed
it justified to initiate a criminal case without a statement from the victim of the unlawful actions," the information service noted.
The suspect's actions are classified under Part 1 of Article 154 of the Criminal Code. The case has been sent to the Vitebsk City Department of the Investigative Committee for a preliminary investigation.
The prosecutor's office urges against concealing cases of domestic violence. Promptly reporting them to law enforcement helps stop the aggressor and protect those who have become victims of domestic violence.
