Vine growers of the Stavropol Territory started spring field work

With the onset of warm days in the vineyards, work is underway to plow covering grape varieties, work has already begun in the Levokumsky and Petrovsky districts. This is the first stage in the opening of grapes from the covering shafts of the earth, which protected the plants from frost in the winter. In total, such work will be carried out on an area of ​​1.3 thousand hectares.
To date, farmers and large viticulture enterprises of the region have also trimmed vineyards on an area of ​​561 hectares and repaired trellises on an area of ​​107.6 hectares. In the near future, the farms plan to start planting vineyards on an area of ​​10.5 hectares.
In the Stavropol region, viticulture is developing at an active pace. The region occupies the 4th place in the Russian Federation in terms of the total area of ​​planted vines and is about 5000 hectares. Regional Governor Vladimir Vladimirov pays special attention to the development of this sub-sector.
“For the implementation of state support in the current year in this direction, the limits of funds have been increased to 226.6 million rubles. The funds will be used to subsidize the costs of laying new vineyards, carrying out maintenance work, purchasing and updating fixed assets and equipment used for the production of viticulture and wine products,” said Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
Today, more than 100 organizations operate in the Stavropol Territory in horticulture, viticulture and winemaking, including 29 small organizations. The annual planting of orchards and vineyards allows creating up to 700 jobs and increasing tax deductions to the regional budget.
