In the Voronezh region, hybridization sites for domestic industrial crops will be expanded

Under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Voronezh Region Viktor Logvinov, a meeting was held in the regional department of the agro-industrial complex on the implementation of the food program as part of an increase in the production of seeds of industrial crops. Representatives of scientific institutions and seed companies took part in the discussion of pressing issues.
The agenda of the meeting included a discussion of the problems and prospects for the development of domestic breeding and seed production of agricultural crops and the expansion of hybridization sites to provide agricultural producers in the region with seed material for the 2023 harvest.
Currently, there are institutions and enterprises in the region that can satisfy the need for seed material not only for regional agricultural producers, but even for the CIS countries.
Representatives of research institutes and enterprises informed about their current activities and needs and presented opportunities for further expansion of hybridization sites. At the same time, during the meeting, the participants emphasized that state support plays an important role in increasing the share of domestic seed material, in particular, subsidizing elite seed production.
In addition, manufacturers focused on problematic issues: increasing the demand for domestic hybrids, the logistics component, and further activities in conditions of spatial isolation.
At the end of the meeting, institutions and companies presented proposals for further work under the current conditions and expressed their readiness to increase the production of domestic hybrids of industrial crops for the future harvest.
