This was reported today at an extended meeting of the Don government by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region Konstantin Rachalovsky.
As Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev told Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday, autumn field work is in full swing in the region, and, taking into account the harvest of late crops, it is predicted that the total gross grain harvest this year could reach about 14 million tons.
Today, the HEAD of the Don agro-industrial complex spoke in detail about the progress in the harvesting of agricultural crops and winter sowing for the 2023 harvest in the Rostov region.
So, in addition to late grain crops, today the fields are actively harvesting oilseeds. With a plan of 1.2 million hectares, 44% of the area (503 thousand hectares) has already been harvested, the gross harvest amounted to 848 thousand tons.
SUGAR beet harvested from almost 30% of the area, the harvest exceeded 232 thousand tons.
Harvesting of potatoes and vegetables also continues in 17 districts of the Rostov region. According to the operational data of agricultural enterprises and farms, 153 thousand tons of potatoes were harvested from 76% of the area. The vegetable harvest has already exceeded 186 thousand tons and has been harvested from 78% of the harvested area.
Speaking about the ongoing sowing of winter crops in the region, Konstantin Rachalovsky noted that in the Rostov region, soil preparation for sowing is almost completed, and farms are fully provided with seeds of domestic selection. He also stressed that over 128 thousand tons of all types of mineral fertilizers in the active substance, or 86% of the need for the second half of the year, have already been procured as of today. For the harvest of 2023, 43 thousand tons have already been applied to the soil.
“The rains that have passed in the region help to replenish the moisture reserves in the soil necessary for the formation of the future crop, helping to obtain good uniform seedlings of winter crops,” Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, commented on the course of field work. - It is also important to note that state support also contributes to the provision of Don agrarians with everything necessary for seasonal work. Thus, only 2.6 billion rubles, or 32.6% of the total funding, was allocated this year for the development of crop production and land reclamation. In general, in 2022, more than 8 billion rubles are provided to support the Don agro-industrial complex and the integrated development of the village. In addition, more than 21 billion rubles of preferential short-term loans and more than 5.5 billion rubles of preferential investment loans were issued to agricultural enterprises and farmers of the Rostov region.”
