More than 200 potato storage facilities near Moscow began to accept a new crop

More than 200 potato storage facilities in the Moscow region began to accept the harvested potato crop. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Sergei Voskresensky.

“Now agricultural organizations and farms of the Moscow region are actively harvesting vegetables and potatoes. Harvest must not only be harvested, but also preserved. To date, 205 potato storage facilities with a total capacity of about 340,000 tons have begun to receive this year's crop,” said Sergei Voskresensky.

According to the minister, not only production volumes, but also price stability in the market depend on proper storage.

“The presence of modern storage facilities, where potatoes are marketable until spring, is beneficial for both producers and consumers, because this is a guarantee of price stability. The Moscow region ranks first in the Central Federal District in terms of growing vegetables in the open field, so the issue of food safety is particularly acute,” said Sergey Voskresensky.

He added that in addition to potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage and onions grown in open ground are sent for long-term storage in the region.

Sergey Voskresensky recalled that the leaders in the production of potatoes among agricultural organizations in the Moscow region are such enterprises as Doka-Gene Technologies, Agrofirma Bunyatino, Kulikovo, Mosagrofood-D, Emelyanovka Enterprise and others.
