PIONERPRODUKT.by continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition "Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan". In this video, we will show the conditions for keeping sheep of the Arashan breed. And also let's talk about the features of this recently bred breed.
Mukhamed has been engaged in sheep breeding for more than a dozen years, starting from Soviet times. However, breeding work to improve the breed began in 1995.
Currently there are 60 ewes and 15 kochkars on the farm. it was from this farm that many “star” rams came out, which now work in sheep farms in a number of countries. These are such kochkars as Gulliver, Vovanych and others.
The farm mainly uses stall keeping, but grazing is also present. Now the breeding period and in the corral with pereyarki is a kochkar named Yoba, which means eighteen in Uyghur. Its weight in the spring of 2021 at the weigh-in was 197 kilograms and a height of 1.04 meters, and the length of the ears was 24 cm. According to Mukhamed, the weight of the fat tail of this ram is about 30 kg.
Since the farm does not have a large pasture capable of feeding the entire flock, it is necessary to store a lot of feed, which significantly increases the cost of keeping sheep.
The farm sells young animals, the price starts from 300 usd per HEAD and above.
There is also a record-breaking ewe in the flock, who was already 10 years old at the time of filming. On average, ewes bring offspring up to 12 years, so they are kept on the farm until this age.
80% of ewes bring one lamb each, the remaining 20% two. At the same time, ewes do not accept foreign lambs. The weight of lambs at birth is from 7 to 9 kg., The fetus is quite large, so in every 5th case it is necessary to help with lambing. Why do you need increased attention to the ewes of this breed during pregnancy.
The color of Arashan sheep can be black, red, brown, light and even gray. But most often they prefer redheads.
