The US is imposing trade sanctions against RUSSIA over the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, the agency said in a statement. The sanctions will include new EXPORT restrictions and will take effect March 18. These are the same restrictions that the US authorities announced on March 2.
"The US Department of Commerce will expand restrictions on exports to Russia in connection with chemical weapons poisoning," the statement said.
The US authorities will refuse to export goods to Russia that are related to national security. Also, the US authorities will suspend licenses for maintenance and replacement of parts and equipment that were previously supplied to Russia. In addition, the United States has included Russia in the list of countries that are completely prohibited from exporting and importing weapons, according to a document published in the US Federal Register. The ban will take effect March 18. Exceptions will apply to operations within the framework of cooperation between states in the field of space, as well as in the field of commercial space launches - until September 1. The new restrictions are a continuation of the sanctions imposed by the Ministry of Commerce in early March. Then, nine Russian companies fell under the restrictions - GK Himmed, Femteko, Interlab, Labinvest, Analyt Products, Intertech Instruments, Pharmcontract, Rau Pharm and Regionsnab, as well as 27th Scientific Center of the Ministry of Defense.
