Shadayev called the launch date for the production of base stations in Russia

Shadayev noted that in Russia there is everything necessary for the opening of domestic production of base stations within 3 years. Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Transformation reported

The production of base stations for telecom operators in Russia is planned to be established in the next three years, for this there are all the necessary developments and technologies. This was announced in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta by the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev.

According to the minister, at present there is a “certain margin of safety” on networks, and telecom operators have stocks. “Very serious upgrades were made during the covid years, when many went online, and today traffic is not growing as intensively as in previous years. Well, within three years we must somehow solve the problem of our own production,” said Shadayev.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Development also noted that many Russian R&D offices (research and development departments) of large international manufacturers of telecommunications equipment have almost completely passed to Russian companies with all their experience and developments. “At the same time, we have used everything we can to develop satellite Internet, there are several very large projects. There are also a number of cool developments and technologies for base stations so that all this quickly goes into production,” the minister added.

The Ministry of Digital Investigation ruled out the deterioration of communication due to the departure of Nokia and Ericsson Technology and media

In mid-December, Reuters, citing experts interviewed, wrote that the exit from Russia of Western telecommunications equipment manufacturers such as Nokia and Ericsson threatens "irreversible consequences" for mobile networks and will lead to a deterioration in communications and the Internet for Russians. According to the agency, Russian mobile phone users are likely to experience slower downloads, more dropped calls and longer outages.

At that time, the Ministry of Digital Development ruled out deterioration in the quality of communications for Russians and recalled that the departure of Western companies forced him to adjust the timing of the transition of Russian telecommunications companies to domestic equipment. “The timing of the transition has been adjusted in accordance with the current situation, operators have been offered softer conditions for replacing base stations. The operators of the "Big Four" have already signed forward contracts for the supply of base stations," the press service of the department noted then.

The amount that the operators will allocate for the purchase of Russian equipment is more than 100 billion rubles, deliveries will begin in 2025, the Ministry of Digital Development specified.

Ericsson and Nokia have traditionally been the largest European suppliers of equipment for mobile networks in Russia. According to Kommersant's sources in the market, Nokia's share is approximately 30-40%, Ericsson - about 20%. Both companies planned to leave the Russian market completely from January 1.
