The Ministry of Justice announced plans to create a "shield" from court decisions on sanctions

Moscow can initiate an international document that would prohibit the enforcement of foreign judgments related to sanctions. it will be a kind of "multilateral shield", said the HEAD of the Ministry of Justice Chuichenko Konstantin Chuichenko

The Ministry of Justice of RUSSIA allowed the creation of an international treaty that would allow not to execute COURT decisions made in connection with the restrictions imposed against Russia, said the head of the department, Konstantin Chuichenko. He is also under sanctions.

“We are seriously considering the creation of a blocking statute that would prohibit the execution of foreign judicial acts issued in pursuance of illegitimate sanctions applied by the countries of the Western bloc. Now it is important to develop precisely a multilateral, interregional shield behind which our citizens and organizations will be able to build economic relations without sanctions risks,” he said ( quoted by RIA Novosti).

As a rule, court decisions accompany the enforcement of sanctions against specific individuals - for example, in the issue of frozen assets. For example, in June last year, the Supreme Court of Fiji (an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, east of Australia) ruled that the superyacht Amadea, which was detained by the authorities of the country, associated with Russian businessman Suleiman Kerimov (is under sanctions), can be taken out by the United States . Washington sought the confiscation of the vessel, as a result, at the end of the month, Amadea arrived in California.

Faisal Haniff, a lawyer for the yacht-owning company Millemarin Investment Limited, argued that the vessel was not related to Kerimov, but belonged to another Russian entrepreneur, the owner of NNK-Oil, Eduard Khudainatov, who was not subject to restrictions.

Some businessmen are trying to challenge in the courts decisions about the actions of the West regarding their yachts. As BLOOMBERG wrote , the daughter of PhosAgro founder Andrey Guryev (also under sanctions), Yulia, decided to challenge the sale of the Alfa Nero superyacht by the authorities of Antigua and Barbuda (a state in the Caribbean) in court. The vessel, the owner of which the US Treasury called Guryev, was sold at auction in mid-June. It was bought by ex-head of GOOGLE Eric Schmidt. Guryev denied that the ship belonged to him.

President Vladimir Putin said last September that he was warning Russian businessmen of future lawsuits over the seizure of "accounts, boats, and so on."
