The Argentine government has blocked the unloading of a shipment of Russian-origin liquefied natural gas for state-owned energy company Enarsa, BLOOMBERG reports .
Economy Minister Sergio Massa said in an interview with Argentina's C5N TV channel that the decision was made because of the Russian origin of the cargo.
The authorities referred to the sanctions in force against RUSSIA .
The gas carrier Flex Artemis, loaded with the products of the Russian company Yamal LNG, was heading to the Argentinean terminal in Bahia Blanca. The ship approached it on July 14, but on July 18, without unloading, it went back, the agency clarifies.
Bloomberg notes that no sanctions have been imposed on Russian LNG, but some European countries have banned the import of Russian liquefied gas, while others have called for no renewal of supply contracts.
The Flex Artemis was chartered by Gunvor Group Ltd.

Last June, the HEAD of TOTALENERGIES, Patrick Pouyanne, said that the authorities of the EU countries agree to continue importing LNG from Russia, despite US pressure. He said that Total has a 20-year contract with Russia, and if the company stops taking gas from Russia, they will still have to pay for it.
Over the past year, the EU imported 15 million tons of LNG from Russia. This is one sixth of the total needs of the Commonwealth (100 million tons). Before abandoning gas imports from Russia, a replacement must be found: Pouyanne suggested that it would be found in the US.
