In Russia, almost 19 thousand cases of COVID were detected per day

In Russia, over the past 24 hours , 18,780 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus infection. Such data was published by the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus.

Over the past day, cases of infection were registered in all 85 regions of the country. Most of the infected were in Moscow (1549), St. Petersburg (1494), the Moscow region (756), as well as in the Sverdlovsk (512), Rostov (479), Voronezh (462) regions and the Perm Territory (462). The total number of infected, according to the operational headquarters, has reached 6 million 993 thousand 954 people.

Over the past 24 hours, 796 people have died in the country from the effects of COVID-19. The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the headquarters, is 185,611. Most of them since the beginning of the spread of infection have been recorded in Moscow (27,593), St. Petersburg (20,692) and the Moscow region (7837). In its statistics, the headquarters takes into account only those cases where the coronavirus has become the main cause of death.

The data of the operational headquarters on mortality differ from the data of Rosstat, which only from April last year to July this year counted almost 367.5 thousand deaths. Rosstat includes in its statistics those who died from other diseases against the background of COVID-19, as well as those who were found to have the virus after death.
