“According to preliminary data from the investigation, on April 17, in a multi-storey building in the city of Odintsovo, a Mosoblspas officer rang the doorbell of the apartment in order to go inside and help the “alpinist” who was outside the house on a cable. However, the owner of the apartment shot through the door and mortally wounded the rescuer,” she said, adding that the pensioner was detained and will be taken for interrogation in the near future.

The incident took place on Ryabinova Street. According to a TASS source, 38-year-old Stanislav Cherchesov was wounded in the shoulder area and died in the hospital. He worked in the 244th fire and rescue unit of Mosoblpozhspas, the deceased left two children. The shooter turned out to be an 80-year-old pensioner, he is registered with a psychiatrist, the TASS interlocutor specified.

TELEGRAM channel 112 reports that the shooter is 79-year-old Yuri Ivanov. According to the channel, he was detained, before that he wounded himself in the leg. Ivanov is receiving medical assistance.

Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and OMON are working on the spot, and a psychiatric team has also arrived. Izvestia reports that a man opened fire from a window.

According to an Interfax source, amid the death of his wife a week earlier, the pensioner stopped communicating with his relatives, and on Sunday afternoon he barricaded himself in his own apartment with a weapon in his hands and took a public utility worker hostage.
