“The virus is unknown, we have known it not so long ago. In order to fully study it, of course, not much time has passed, especially since it has been mutating so intensively for the last six months. It has become much more variable than what we observed a year ago,” she said.

In mid-June, Popova said that the most common strain of CORONAVIRUS in RUSSIA and in the world is the "Indian strain" Delta. According to Popova, this coronavirus mutation has already been identified in 64 countries.

In early July, Popova announced that there was no need to introduce a lockdown in Russia. Instead, she urged citizens to actively vaccinate. According to her, more than 21 million people have been vaccinated in Russia.
