13 municipalities of Lithuania entered the "red" zone for CORONAVIRUS, the rest - in the "black". Such data is provided by the Department of Statistics of the Republic. At the same time, the authorities are not considering options for new restrictions, writes Delfi.
Shvenchensky, Ignalina, Rokiski, Kupiski, Panevezys, Raseini, Shirvintai, Kaišiadorski, Varenski districts, Birštonas, Kazlu Ruda, Kalvaria and Panevėžys remain in the red zone.
Over the past 24 hours, more than 2,000 cases of coronavirus have been recorded again. The country's incidence rate averages 852.6 cases per 100,000 over 14 days, with a positive test rate of 9.6%. The most difficult situation remains in the Joniškis region (2054 cases per 100,000 inhabitants). it is the only municipality in the country with an incidence rate of more than 2,000 people.
On October 6, the Lithuanian government approved a payment of 100 euros to vaccinating pensioners. But despite the increase in cases, the authorities are not discussing the possibility of closing schools or restricting movement.
“This will definitely not reduce the number of new cases, since everything depends on the responsibility of people, unless quarantine would help, but not wearing masks. As for restricting mobility, other activities, closing schools, etc., the government is not planning all of this yet. Despite the fact that the number of new cases is quite high, but if we compare the situation with last year, we see a clear difference in hospital occupancy and the average death rate,” said Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte.
According to her, this is the best proof that the vaccine is working - those vaccinated either do not get into hospitals, or they do, but they suffer the disease less often, die less often. “We have two goals. We see that the highest mortality remains in the group of people over 75 years of age. In this group, unfortunately, in contrast to Western countries, our vaccination rate is lower. If these payments help someone decide on vaccination, we decided to offer this option, ”said the prime minister.
As RBC Kaliningrad wrote, at the end of September, more than twenty municipalities of Lithuania, including Vilnius, were included in the so-called “black zone” for the incidence of coronavirus.
