The Czech opposition in parliament did not have enough votes of deputies to express a vote of no confidence in the current government of Andrei Babis, the leader of the political movement ANO (“Action of Disgruntled Citizens”). This is reported by the local agency CTK.
According to the country's legislation, votes of 101 out of 200 deputies of the lower house of parliament are needed to pass a vote of no confidence. However, only 89 deputies supported the opposition during the extraordinary meeting. Deputies from the Communist Party left the hall, the agency writes.
The Senate of the Czech Republic will consider the issue of impeachment of President Zeman Politics
The opposition believes that the Babis government is not effectively countering the covid-19 pandemic , and also cannot provide strong international support for the Czech Republic against the backdrop of its diplomatic conflict with RUSSIA.
Babiš did not agree with the opposition. He called the current government successful and the opposition's statements meaningless.
