The death toll during the riots in Kakhastan increased to 230 people

The January protests and accompanying unrest in Kazakhstan killed 230 people. This was announced by the Prosecutor General of the Republic Berik Asylov, reports Nur.kz.

The Prosecutor General specified that there were 19 military and security officials among them. Most people died in Almaty - 139 people.

“To date, it has been established that 86 attackers were eliminated when repulsing the assaults on administrative buildings and in the course of establishing law and order. For 53 dead, the circumstances of death are being clarified. They were found on the territory of the city with various wounds, including 48 with gunshot wounds, 2 with stab wounds, 3 with other injuries and burns,” Asylov added.

The HEAD of the Criminal Prosecution Service of the Prosecutor General's Office, Serik Shalabaev, and the DIRECTOR of the public relations department of the Ministry of HEALTH, Assel Artakshinova, reported 225 deaths in mid-January. The Prosecutor General's Office also noted that during the protests there were 20 attacks on medical facilities in Almaty, including five hospitals and 14 pharmacies. Three city hospitals were under a state of siege for three days, the ministry said.
