June 3, Vitebsk. In Orsha this month, the construction of a new building of the Konstantin Zaslonov Museum will begin. The facility will be located at the former location of the institution on the street. Vasily Molokov near the railway station, BelTA learned from the regional executive committee.

The area of the two-storey museum will be up to 1,000 sq.m. The building will have exhibition halls dedicated to the activities of Zaslonov, his partisan and underground movement, offices for employees, an exhibition hall for changing exhibitions and events. They also intend to place separate expositions dedicated to the Orsha region during the war years and Afghan soldiers.

The building will be decorated with a colonnade at the entrance. Every fourth column will be truncated - as a symbol of the fact that every fourth inhabitant of Belarus died during the Great Patriotic War. The work will be financed from the local budget. The new museum is scheduled to open next year.

In July 2016, hurricane winds severely damaged the roof of an old building that was over 110 years old. After that, the object, which had completely dilapidated by that time, was recognized as emergency and not subject to restoration. The exhibits were removed and the building demolished. All items were transferred to the funds of the Museum of History and Culture of Orsha.

Hero of the Soviet Union Konstantin Zaslonov during the Great Patriotic War was the commander of a partisan detachment, then a brigade, from October 1942 - the commander of all partisan forces of the Orsha zone. In a short period under his leadership, serious damage was inflicted on enemy forces. This is evidenced by the fact that even for the dead Zaslonov, the invaders offered a large reward. The significance of the partisan activities of the legendary brigade commander was reflected in the cinema. In 1949, the film studio "Belarusfilm" shot the Soviet feature film "Konstantin Zaslonov", in which the main role was played by the People's Artist of the RSFSR Vladimir Druzhnikov.
