The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee for Economic Development at its meeting approved the recommendations of the Cabinet of Ministers on the revision of the economic part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
Some of the approved recommendations relate to ways to solve the most problematic issues of the dairy industry and support it.
A separate issue for consideration in the framework of the revision of the Association Agreement should be EXPORT subsidies to EU residents in trade with Ukraine, which create unequal conditions for trade and cause significant damage to Ukrainian industry. In particular, today the most affected is the dairy industry.
The problem can be solved either by the abolition of such export subsidies, or by the introduction of compensatory mechanisms for Ukrainian producers.
Representatives of the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine, who have repeatedly raised the issue of the need to increase attention and state support for the dairy industry, express the hope that the revision of the economic part of the Association Agreement will allow Ukrainian producers to compete with imported products and save jobs.
According to Boris Prikhodko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Economic Development, Ukraine, unfortunately, cannot influence export subsidies in the EU. But it can introduce compensatory support for producers of domestic dairy products, which should be included in the budget next year in the section "State support for the agro-industrial complex."
