22 January, Minsk . Over the past four years, the turnover of food and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and Serbia has tripled, including the export of domestic food products to Serbia increased by 63.3% in the first 11 months of 2024

, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Serbia is a key partner of Belarus in the Balkans, with which we have a free trade agreement and a visa-free regime. The mutual turnover of food and agricultural raw materials between the two republics, as well as the volume of Belarusian food supplies to Serbia, is steadily growing. The main export items include dairy products ( cheeses , powdered milk , animal butter ), yeast, and fresh potatoes .

The day before, a working meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vadim Shagoiko and Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, co-chairman of the Belarusian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation Nenad Popovic.

"Serbia is an important trade and economic partner for us, and we highly value the friendly relations that have developed between the states, including on issues of bilateral cooperation in agriculture and food supplies," Deputy Minister Vadim Shagoiko addressed the Serbian delegation. "I am convinced that regular meetings of sectoral working groups will not only allow us to discuss the results of the work done, but will also contribute to expanding the range of bilateral relations."

In order to intensify trade and economic ties and discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation, the Belarusian side proposed considering the possibility of holding the sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Serbian working group on cooperation in the near future. As was emphasized, Belarus is interested in increasing mutual trade turnover, developing relations in the field of plant growing and exhibition and fair activities, and increasing the volume of dairy product supplies.

Nenad Popovic, in turn, noted the importance of deepening integration and increasing trade turnover between the countries, expressed gratitude for the fraternal support and assistance at the level of the head of state Alexander Lukashenko.

"Our current potential is great. We hope that cooperation in the agro-industrial sector and food supplies will receive a greater impetus, and we will strive to intensify, further develop and improve relations. Given the existing favorable preconditions, a systematic approach to joint work is needed," the Serbian government minister summarized.

Today, January 22, a meeting will be held between the head of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, Artur Karpovich, who heads the Belarusian part of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, and Nenad Popovic. The plans include a discussion of ways to increase cooperation between the parties in the sphere of trade and the economy as a whole.
