Work on the restoration of the Borovskoye poultry farm, which was closed due to an outbreak of avian influenza, will begin in February. According to the governor of the Tyumen region Alexander Moor, in February the quarantine period ends at the enterprise, and the restoration of operations will begin. The HEAD of the region also noted that the poultry farm is an important backbone enterprise in the region's agriculture.
Problems at the "Borovskaya" poultry farm began in the second half of last year. In October, due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza, the company's products were withdrawn from sale in 22 regions of RUSSIA. At that time, Borovskaya destroyed 1.5 million birds (34.9% of the total herd). The media wrote that the factory over the past three years has received a total of more than 2 million rubles. fines for violation of veterinary rules, most of which concerned the storage of chicken manure on several hectares of agricultural land. In addition, there were violations in production.
After the outbreak of avian influenza, the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR conducted an unscheduled inspection at the branch of the Borovskaya poultry farm in the village of Golyshmanovo (Tyumen Region), as a result of which more than 10 gross violations of veterinary rules for keeping birds, as well as rules for the movement and disposal of waste, were revealed.
Deputy Governor of the Tyumen Region Vladimir Cheimetov said at a meeting of the Agrarian Committee of the Regional Duma that the Borovskaya Poultry Farm would be able to resume work, "but in what format has not yet been determined." “The All-Russian Institute of Animal Husbandry will conduct an audit of the poultry farm (including in terms of biological safety) on the subject of how, taking into account the prospects for the development of Tyumen, we can restore production and prevent a second outbreak,” Cheimetov noted.
ARRIAH Leading Specialist Viktor Irza said that, in his opinion, the prospects for the restoration of the enterprise are good. “Production activities will not start until May. The corpuska will be filled with livestock gradually,” the expert said. According to him, in Russia there is now a lull in the spread of bird flu, however, it "foreshadows the storm that is now raging in Europe."
The outbreak of bird flu at Borovskoye occurred just at the beginning of the cold period, says Albert Davleev, president of Agrifood Strategies. Given that this is a cold Siberian region, there is a risk that if the factory now plants the bird, the virus could flare up again, the expert said. “There have been such cases. Veterinarians and ARRIAH do not recommend planting birds before the snow melts and the soil is well ventilated. Thus, the risk of re-infection of livestock is significantly reduced,” Davleev said.
In his opinion, the decision of the governor to start the restoration of the poultry farm in February is fully justified. “To start the beginning means to start the preparatory work, that is, the preparation of the infrastructure. It is necessary to check whether all the safety measures recommended by veterinarians and regulatory authorities have really been implemented, and only after that to import young animals, that is, young laying chicks, which in six months will be able to lay an egg, ”he concluded.
