Consumption of both chicken and duck meat has increased in South Korea

In particular, home-delivered chicken consumption decreased slightly from 3.29 kg in 2020 to 3.1 kg this year, while home-delivered consumption increased from 1.91 kg in 2020 to 2.19 kg. This can be interpreted as a result of the diversification of home food products and the launch of convenience products, replacing the demand for delivery and eating out.

The number of households consuming chicken at home more than once a week was 61%, down 8.2 percentage points from 2020. On the other hand, the number of adults who consume food outside the home more than once a week was 57.4%, up 10.9 percentage points from 2020.

Both consumption and frequency of duck MEAT consumption were found to increase. The share of households consuming duck meat more than once a month was 42.6%, up 3.1 percentage points from 2020. The share of adults who consume duck meat more than once a month outside the home was 41.2%, up 2.7 percentage points from 2020.
