“According to the results of a virological study of the biomaterial conducted by the Omsk Regional Veterinary Laboratory, a rabies virus was detected in a cat in the village of Kochki, Lyubinsky District, Omsk Region, and rabies in cattle was detected in the village of Shandrovka, Lyubinsky District,” the message says.

Quarantine has been declared there , and measures are being taken to prevent the spread and eradicate rabies.

In 2023, 21 rabies outbreaks were registered in the Omsk region.

The Omsk region is traditionally a territory that is unfavorable for rabies. For a number of years, foci of this dangerous disease appear in different parts of the region, the carriers of which in nature are wild carnivores - foxes, corsacs, raccoon dogs, wolves, and in urban conditions - stray dogs and cats.
