The production of meat and meat products has increased in the Kursk region

The Kursk region ranks second in RUSSIA in the production of pigs in live weight, second only to the Belgorod region, whose agricultural organizations produced 298.9 thousand tons of this product. The share of poultry was 20.0%, or 44.4 thousand tons (-2.6%), cattle  - 3.4%, or 7.6 thousand tons (+10.4%), sheep and goats — 0.2%, or 0.4 thousand tons (+44.3%).

During the reporting period, agricultural organizations shipped 222.2 thousand tons of livestock and poultry (in live weight), including pigs - 169.4 thousand tons, poultry - 44.7 thousand tons, cattle - 7.6 thousand. tons, sheep and goats - 0.4 thousand tons.

As noted in the Kursk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Center for Agroanalytics", beef cattle breeding and the MEAT processing industry are actively developing in the region. Thus, the Miratorg company is implementing a large interregional project "Doubling pig breeding" in the Kursk region. Within the framework of this project, pig-breeding complexes for 13,200 heads and a meat-packing plant with a capacity of 4.5 million heads per year for slaughtering and processing pigs are being built. Investments in the project exceed 89 billion rubles. In addition, the Agropromkomplektatsiya Group of Companies plans to build a meat processing plant in the Konyshevsky district on the basis of a modernized slaughterhouse by the first half of next year. Investments in the project will amount to 4.3 billion rubles, the capacity is more than 310 thousand pigs per year.

We add, according to Rosstat, for the first quarter of this year (data for four months have not yet been published) the production of fresh, cooled and chilled meat of cattle (beef and veal) in the region increased by 2.2 times, fresh pork - by 9, 3%, chilled poultry meat - by 6.4%. The volume of production of meat (meat-containing) semi-finished products increased by 16.8%, cooked sausages - by 8.7%.
