The traditional division into "male" and "female" professions in the agro-industrial complex is becoming less and less noticeable: in 2022, more than a third of female applicants indicated in their resumes the professions that the stronger sex usually claims - engineer, agronomist, livestock specialist and the general DIRECTOR of the enterprise, told RIA News in the press service of the Russian Agricultural Bank.
On the eve of International Women's Day, experts from the platforms "I'm in Agro" and "My Farming", which are part of the ecosystem for agriculture of the Russian Agricultural Bank "Svoe", found out, at the request of RIA Novosti, how much the number of women in the agro-industrial complex has increased and what professions they choose.
“The traditional division into “male” and “female” professions in the agro-industrial complex is becoming less noticeable: in 2022, the number of female applicants amounted to 61% of the total number of resumes posted. At the same time, 35% of them belong to professions that are considered to be “male”. These are engineers, agronomists, livestock specialists, technical, executive and general directors of enterprises,” the bank’s press service said.
According to data from Svoe Fermerstvo, a platform for agricultural producers, in the top five professions in the agro-industrial complex that are of the greatest interest to women, the specialty of a veterinarian is in the first place - 29% of resumes were submitted for it, followed by the position of the HEAD of the direction (about 15%) . The third and fourth positions are occupied by the manager and the chief livestock specialist (10% and 9.7%). The list is closed by the traditional work for this area - as an agronomist (7.8% of all resumes).
“The agricultural sector in RUSSIA is becoming more and more attractive for women, as the introduction of modern technologies reduces the demand for physical strength and opens up new opportunities for women to fulfill themselves. For example, every fifth agrotech start-up in Russia in 2022 was created by women,” commented Elena Baturova, director of the Center for the Development of Financial Technologies at Rosselkhozbank.
