According to the interregional Office of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR , the bird flu virus was found in the village of Olshanka. it is recognized as the epizootic center. All necessary measures to block the spread of the pathogen have already been promptly taken there. The villages of Golovanovka, Vasilievka, Rodionovka and Bogdanovka were included in the threatened zone. In the observation zone are the farms Kalinin, Melnikovo, Ordzhonikidze, Khleborodny, Selim and the village of Zhuravlevka.

In the quarantine zone at the entrance and exit, checkpoints equipped with disinfection barriers are equipped. All vehicles here are thoroughly disinfected.

In recent years, bird flu has become almost the main cause of threats to the development of poultry farming on the Don. So, five years ago, an outbreak of this infection dealt a fatal blow to the largest poultry holding in the region - the Eurodon group of companies. Bird flu outbreaks also affected the Markinskaya Poultry Farm and the Belaya Ptitsa-Rostov company.

In the fall of 2020, an outbreak of bird flu led to the destruction of the entire livestock at the Taganrogskaya poultry farm. Nearly a million laying hens were slaughtered. Last year, a similar incident occurred at the Gulyai-Borisov poultry farm in the Zernograd region. The infection then spread to a number of private households in the vicinity of the factory.

As a result of only the latest outbreaks of bird flu, the largest producers: the Taganrogskaya and Aksaiskaya poultry farms, as well as the Damate group of companies, suffered losses in the total amount exceeding a billion rubles. As for the current outbreak of bird flu in the Tselinsky district, it will lead to the removal of almost 3,000 birds from farmsteads located in the epizootic center. The rest of the birds in the farms of the threatened zone will be vaccinated.
