Miratorg started working with farmers on agricultural contracts

According to him, at the beginning of the season, Miratorg identifies crops that it does not want or cannot grow on its own, and contracts them from farmers. At the same time, the agricultural holding adheres to principles similar to those used by the Magnit trading network for its agricultural contracts: it advances production, determines the shipment schedule, and so on. “Small enterprises have advantages: they are more flexible, they can plant a field, for example, carrots, harvest them by hand and pack them. We cannot do this, since our advantage is the release of a mass product, ”Logunov explained. He also emphasized that the company has flexible approaches to product acceptance, which take into account weather conditions and other realities existing on the market.

At the same time, Miratorg itself, as a vegetable producer, works under agricultural contracts with Magnit. This form of cooperation is of interest to large businesses, because it ensures the stability of sales, it becomes possible to load the capacity of the enterprise and increase the profitability of production. In addition, agricultural contracts are beneficial because they allow you to exclude an intermediary from the supply chain, and the money that this additional link receives can be invested in product quality.

During the forum, Logunov also said that Miratorg is actively releasing various new products that are being tested on the shelves of the company's own retail network. In particular, this year alone, the holding has already launched two new products in the fruit and vegetable segment: potatoes for microwave ovens, which are sold in Magnit and Miratorg supermarkets, and colored carrots. At the same time, the second novelty did not find a response from buyers, the top manager admitted. Next year, the company plans to start selling early harvest watermelons, which are grown at its own production site in Stavropol.
