Kazakhstan temporarily banned the import of MEAT, MILK and animals from the Orenburg region of RUSSIA due to the spread of the foot-and-mouth disease virus, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.

"As a result of the registration of an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the Belyaevsky district of the Orenburg region of Russia on December 31, 2021, the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture introduced temporary restrictions on the import into the Republic of Kazakhstan and transit from the Orenburg region of animals susceptible to foot-and-mouth disease, products and raw materials of animal origin," the statement said. ministry.

The restrictions came into effect on January 12.

At the same time, Russia also banned the import of meat, milk and animals from Kazakhstan.

"Due to the worsening of the epizootic situation on the territory of Kazakhstan on the infection of foot-and-mouth disease virus, temporary restrictions are introduced on the EXPORT to the Russian Federation from Kazakhstan of the following products:

FMD-susceptible live animals, including companion animals, as well as wild, circus and zoo animals; genetic material, other than those selected in vivo, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 8.8.17 of the OIE Code; raw meat and meat products not subjected to heat treatment, which guarantees the destruction of the FMD virus; milk and dairy products not subjected to heat treatment, which guarantees the destruction of the FMD virus; wool, hair, bristles, trophies, raw intestinal materials, hides and skins not processed according to a technology that guarantees the destruction of foot-and-mouth disease virus; feed and feed additives of animal origin, including from poultry and fish, with the exception of feed FLOUR from fish, marine mammals, crustaceans and invertebrates; heat-treated feed additives, prepared food for cats and dogs, ferrets, thorzofrets, honors, rodents, aquarium and terrarium animals, ornamental birds; feed and feed additives of plant origin, with the exception of feed additives and ready-made feed for cats and dogs, ferrets, horzofrets, honors, rodents, aquarium and terrarium animals, ornamental birds; used equipment for keeping and slaughtering animals," the website said. ROSSELKHOZNADZOR .
