In 2022, 905 Russian suppliers became new partners of Magnit. Most of all new contractors were in such categories as fresh vegetables (184 suppliers) and fruits (126), bread and bakery products (95), industrial goods (74). In addition, Magnit has significantly increased the number of Russian suppliers of dairy products, cheeses, confectionery, groceries and frozen foods. As a number of foreign brands left the Russian market, another 48 new partners joined the pool of Russian suppliers supplying soft drinks to Magnit stores. Trade turnover with domestic suppliers increased by more than 19% compared to the previous year.
In total, Magnit cooperates with more than 6.1 thousand suppliers, of which 5.3 thousand are Russian. Approximately half of the total number of domestic suppliers are small and medium-sized local producers.
To attract new suppliers, the retailer holds regular trading and purchasing sessions in the regions. For small Russian manufacturers and farms, Magnit offers a number of projects to promote their products and special conditions for deliveries to the network.
For example, Magnit works with Russian producers of agricultural products under the system of agricultural contracts, concluding direct long-term contracts with guaranteed volumes of supplies of fruits and vegetables. In 2022, the supply of Russian vegetables and fruits to Magnit stores under agricultural contracts exceeded 340,000 tons. The share of farm products in such supplies is 45%. For small agricultural producers, the company has developed a simplified supply agreement, which, in particular, implies shorter payment terms from the retail network. To promote farm products in Magnit stores, special formats are provided - farm shops and farm yards. In November 2022, Magnit created an aggregator for the centralized supply of farm products in the Tula region, which also provides a number of specialized services for farmers (from assistance with product labeling to co-financing the purchase of raw materials and equipment). Based on the results of the pilot project, Magnit will decide to scale the aggregator model to other regions.
