Brazil: Record August for beef exports, up 56% in dollars

The volume increased by 23.5%, which is approximately 50,000 tons more than in the same period in 2024 .

Revenue reached US $1.504 billion , up 56% in DOLLAR terms from US$964.2 million 12 months ago.

In addition to the significant increase in volumes, the average price was US$5,600 per tonne, representing a year-on-year increase of 26.3% compared to US$4,435 per tonne in August 2024.

As of August, Brazilian beef exports totaled 1.832 billion tons valued at US$9.605 billion, up 15% in volume and 34% in sales year-on-year.

These results in August came with CHINA as the main customer, a sharp decline in business in the US and growth in other markets such as Mexico (+300%), RUSSIA (+109%), Chile (+32%), the Philippines (+28%) and Egypt (+18%).

The United States recorded a fourth month of decline and fell from second to seventh place among destinations since March with 6,396 tonnes, down from 15,000 tonnes in August 2024.

Despite the US figures, total beef exports hit a new record in August, a month in which Brazil's trade balance registered a surplus of US$6.133 billion, 36% higher than the August 2024 figure, the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) said.

The impact of a 50% tariff on many Brazilian products imported to the U.S., including beef , which went into effect on Aug. 6, was an 18.5% drop in exports to the U.S., representing 9.3% of the total for the month, compared with 11.8% in August last year.

On the other hand, exports to China increased by 30% in August, and the market share increased from 25.7% last year to 32.1% in 2025.
