January 16, Grodno. A drunken Grodno resident set fire to the door of his ex-wife's apartment,
the COURT delivered a verdict, BelTA learned from the Grodno Regional Court.
On the evening of October 5, 2025, the accused, while drunk, set fire to the front door of an apartment in the building on Stroiteley Avenue in Grodno. His ex-wife lives in the apartment. The arson caused property damage to the owner of the apartment and his ex-wife.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, telling the court that he did not set the front door on fire and was in a state of intoxication.
He was not intoxicated . However, his arguments were not supported in court and were refuted by the evidence collected in the case: consistent testimony from the victim and witnesses, a video recording of the events reviewed in court, expert reports, and other case materials.
When sentencing, the court took into account the fact that the defendant had repeatedly been held administratively liable while intoxicated, including for disturbing the peace. The Leninsky District
Court of Grodno found the man guilty of intentional damage to another's property, committed in a generally dangerous manner. Under Part 2 of Article 218 of the Criminal Code, he was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of restricted freedom with referral to an open correctional facility. Under Article 107 of the Criminal Code, the defendant was ordered to undergo compulsory
treatment for chronic
ALCOHOLISM.
