In the village of Bolshaya Myssa, Smorgon District, three acquaintances were drinking alcohol at the home of one of them. At about 19:00, after the owner fell asleep, his guests began to leave. It was a long walk, so they decided to leave in the car of their sleeping friend.

The 50-year-old man stole the keys to a Peugeot parked in the yard, got behind the wheel and headed home. However, due to a strongintoxicated, lost control and, after driving 400 meters, crashed into a fence. The drunk driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

After the arrest, a medical examination showed that the man had more than 3.5 times the permissible alcohol level in his body.

The actions of the suspect were classified by the Smorgon District Department of the Investigative Committee under the article "Theft". In addition, the man was held liable for driving a vehicle while intoxicated. The car with technical damage was returned to its owner.
