The results of the Grodno Region Prosecutor's Office's work for the first half of 2025 were summed up at a board meeting with the participation of Deputy Prosecutor General of Belarus Maksim Voronin. This was reported to BELTA by the information service of the Grodno Region Prosecutor's Office.
As noted by Grodno Region Prosecutor Aleksandr Zhukov, the measures taken by the prosecutor's office to fulfill the tasks set by the
HEAD of state and the Prosecutor General of Belarus make
it possible to effectively influence the state of law and order in the region.
The department reported that the total number of crimes registered in the region decreased by 10.7% compared to the first half of
2024 , the number of victims - by 13.9%. The number of serious and especially serious crimes decreased by 9.5%. The number of criminal acts committed by minors or with their participation decreased by 13%, by persons with a criminal record - by 19.8%, in a state of
ALCOHOL intoxication - by 6.9%, in public places - by 36.1%. Fewer murders, intentional causing of grievous bodily harm, as well as thefts, robberies, assaults, hooliganism, crimes related to parents' evasion of child support were registered.
"In the coming period, it is necessary to focus the attention of the prosecutor's office on further increasing the effectiveness of work in key areas of supervision, responding to negative trends in the sphere of ensuring the safety of citizens, primarily children, preventing the involvement of minors in unlawful behavior, strengthening control and preventive measures against previously convicted persons," noted Alexander Zhukov.
The board members discussed problematic issues of supervisory activities and ways to solve them. In his report, the head of the department for supervision of compliance with legislation and legality of legal acts, Sergei Tolkun, paid special attention to the implementation of the task set by the head of state to restore order in the livestock industry, compliance with legislation during the harvesting campaign, and a principled response to cases of mismanagement and theft.
"In connection with the increase in the unproductive disposal of farm animals in the region, prosecutors must respond in principle to the facts of reflecting false information in the reporting of enterprises, identify and stop schemes that allow
the loss of livestock to be concealed , and ensure compensation for damage caused to the state at the expense of the guilty parties. Ensure the implementation of the measures taken and the elimination of deficiencies," said Maxim Voronin.
It was noted that the regional prosecutors should continue to monitor issues of involving unused reclaimed lands in agricultural circulation, commissioning unfinished construction projects, improving settlements and territories, and paying off external accounts receivable. Prosecutors have been instructed to monitor issues related to counter-sanction measures. Monitor and prevent the transfer of foreign capital abroad from our enterprises, paying attention to the persons who facilitate this. At the same time, give a legal assessment of such actions. Particular attention should be paid to issues of preventing deaths from external causes. In connection with the increased number of fires, it is necessary to seek to strengthen the coordinating function of fire supervision bodies. The meeting also discussed aspects of interaction between inquiry and preliminary investigation bodies, the results of the prosecutors' activities in supporting the state prosecution in criminal cases, supervision of compliance with
COURT decisions in civil cases. Attention is also paid to issues of combating corruption.
During the consideration of the issue of preventing juvenile delinquency and ensuring their safety, Maxim Voronin emphasized: "The issues of protecting the rights of children living in dysfunctional families should be kept under special control. It is also necessary to ensure timely protection of the rights and legitimate interests of minors in difficult life situations."
Summing up, Deputy Prosecutor General of Belarus Maxim Voronin demanded that prosecutors ensure a comprehensive approach and responsible attitude to solving the tasks set.
In conclusion, Maxim Voronin and Alexander Zhukov presented well-deserved awards to prosecutors who achieved high results in the implementation of supervisory activities.
