July 26, Grodno. Five people drowned in the Grodno region over the weekend. BelTA was informed about this by Daria Chaplya, official representative of USC in the Grodno region.

“Most often, people who became victims of water were drunk. For example, a 47-year-old man was relaxing with a friend on the banks of the Oshmyanka River in the Ostrovets district on the evening of July 23. He drank alcohol and went swimming, after which he disappeared. in a state of intoxication, I thought that the man had gone home, and also left the place of rest. Already at home, he called the police. Rescuers removed the man's body from the water at a distance of 50 meters from the shore," said Daria Chaplya.

A similar incident occurred in the Shchuchinsky district. The 61-year-old man, along with the company, was on the banks of the Neman near the village of Volchki. He was fishing and at some point decided to swim. The man began to drown, it was not possible to save him. The body was not found until the next day.

According to all five incidents recorded over the weekend, the territorial departments of the Investigative Committee are conducting checks.
