
February 2, Brest. In the Kobrin district, inspectors detained a drunk trucker, BelTA learned from the traffic police of the Brest regional executive committee.
The incident occurred on February 1 at about 9.30 am on the M1/E30 Brest-Minsk-Russian border road. The attention of traffic police officers of the Kobrin District Department of Internal Affairs was attracted by a truck "Volvo" with a semi-trailer. The inspectors signaled the driver to stop. The physical condition of the 50-year-old Russian, who was driving the truck, aroused suspicion among law enforcement officers. A medical examination showed the presence of 1.5 ppm of alcohol in his blood.
Eight administrative protocols were drawn up against the driver, including for driving while intoxicated . The car has been impounded.
In 2021, 39 accidents were registered in the Brest region due to the fault of drunk drivers, in which 11 people died and 41 received injuries of varying severity. Since the beginning of this year, about 150 drunk drivers have already been detained on the roads of the region.
The Department of Internal Affairs reminded that a serious punishment is provided for drunk driving - deprivation of a driver's license, a large fine, in some cases a criminal case may be initiated.
