The driver, ignoring the relative, ran over him and continued driving without stopping. The man died on the spot from his injuries. A resident of Mogilev was detained. The concentration of ethyl alcohol in his blood was 2.49 ppm. The accused admitted his guilt and told the investigator that he did not see his father on the road because he was looking in the other direction. When studying the man’s personality, it was established that he had previously been repeatedly prosecuted. The Mogilev resident committed illegal actions while in a very drunken state. “Highly qualified investigators of the Main Investigation Department, specializing in the investigation of road accidents, conducted a thorough investigation, during which the accused and witnesses were questioned, numerous expert studies were carried out , as well as investigative experiments with the participation of the person involved and eyewitnesses of the tragedy,” the Investigative Committee said. Based on the results of the collected evidence, a 36-year-old man was charged under the article “Violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in the death of a person through negligence” of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty provided for under this article is 7 years in prison.
