The accident occurred late in the evening of July 4, 2023. The day before, in the courtyard of a house on Yuzhnaya Street, a 36-year-old man was helping his father and his friend repair a car. Men at this time were usingALCOHOL . When the alcohol ran out, the 36-year-old Mogilev resident decided that he needed to go to a friend. To do this, he wanted to take his father’s GAZ-3307 car, but the pensioner was categorically against it and forbade his son to drive in this condition. The man, fueled by alcohol, decided to go on business anyway. Despite the conflict with his parents, he took the keys and started the car. The man's

father , a 63-year-old resident of Mogilev, realizing the consequences this trip could lead to, tried to stop the car. He ran towards the moving truck, waving his arms and shouting loudly. The driver, ignoring the relative, ran over him and continued driving without stopping. The man died on the spot from his injuries. A resident of Mogilev was detained. The concentration of ethyl alcohol in his blood was 2.49 ppm. The accused admitted his guilt and told the investigator that he did not see his father on the road because he was looking in the other direction. When studying the man’s personality, it was established that he had previously been repeatedly prosecuted. The Mogilev resident committed illegal actions while in a very drunken state. “Highly qualified investigators of the Main Investigation Department, specializing in the investigation of road accidents, conducted a thorough investigation, during which the accused and witnesses were questioned, numerous expert studies were carried out , as well as investigative experiments with the participation of the person involved and eyewitnesses of the tragedy,” the Investigative Committee said. Based on the results of the collected evidence, a 36-year-old man was charged under the article “Violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in the death of a person through negligence” of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty provided for under this article is 7 years in prison.
