Deputy Governor of the region Igor Kremnev visited Dolgorukovsky and Yelets districts to assess the pace of the harvesting campaign.
Potatoes are now harvested in the organized sector in 7 districts, including Dolgorukovsky. More than a thousand hectares have been set aside for it. More than 10 thousand tons have already been collected in this region alone. In total, 5.5 thousand hectares are occupied by “second bread” in the region, more than 26 thousand tons have been received today. Igor Kremnev examined the potato storage facilities located in the village of Dubovets. 35 thousand tons of potatoes can be stored there at a time. The farm visited by the deputy governor grows varieties of potatoes that are used to make both fries and chips. Some of the potatoes are used for seeds. All potatoes are irrigated. The total potato storage capacity of this enterprise, which is also located in the Yelets district, is 67 thousand tons. Storage facilities are equipped with humidification and temperature maintenance systems,
Along with potatoes, sugar beet is also harvested in the fields of the region. As of September 7, more than 250 thousand tons have already been dug up in 9 harvesting districts. Beets from the fields are sent to sugar factories and storage areas. In the Dobrovsky district, up to 180 thousand tons of beets can be stored at a temporary sugar beet station. Sweet root crops are ventilated, cooled and can remain on the site for several months without loss of quality until they are sent to the sugar factory.
Many farms with cattle have started harvesting corn for silage. Igor Kremnev visited one of these fields, and also visited a livestock breeding complex, where he was shown the process of laying silage for storage. In total, more than 130 thousand tons of silage are currently stored in the region.
Also in the Dolgorukovsky district, Igor Kremnev inspected a seed plant with a capacity of 20 tons of seeds per hour, put into operation in 2021. The implementation of the project made it possible not only to provide the enterprise with its own seeds of grain crops, but also to provide services for the storage, drying, cleaning and processing of grain to other companies.
“I had a very constructive conversation with the management and specialists of enterprises,” the deputy governor noted. - Discussed new approaches that are used in production, planned investment projects. Of course, we touched upon the topic of possible forms of state support from both the region and the federal center.”
