Rostov Region Increases Agricultural Exports to Egypt

During the visit to Moscow for the Day of Agriculture of the National Achievements Forum at the International Exhibition and Forum "Russia", the Don delegation held a meeting with representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt on issues of expanding the EXPORT of agricultural products.
According to the Don Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural products from the Rostov Region are exported to 16 of 62 African countries. Among them: Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, Uganda, Morocco, South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Rwanda, Congo, Malawi, Benin.
In general, in 2023, the volume of deliveries of Don agricultural products to African countries within the framework of the national project "International Corporation and Export" amounted to 7.7 million tons, which is 85.6% more than in 2022. Agricultural products worth 2.2 billion US dollars were exported . The share of African countries in the total volume of agricultural exports from the Rostov Region is 26.5% in value terms. The basis of the Don agricultural exports to African countries is wheat and meslin, corn, sunflower oil , and legumes. Recently, the export of mineral water has begun.
"Egypt is the leading foreign economic partner of the Rostov Region and ranks second, after Turkey, in terms of agricultural exports," the deputy governor of the Don noted during the meeting.Minister of Agriculture and Food Konstantin Rachalovsky. - it is Egypt that accounts for the bulk of exports to African countries, its share is 64%. Last year, the export of agricultural products to Egypt amounted to 4.6 million tons worth 1.5 billion US dollars, - The main share was made up of grain. Over 4.2 million tons were exported from the Rostov Region to the Arab Republic of Egypt last year, worth more than 1.1 million US dollars.
The HEAD of the Don Ministry of Agriculture recalled that in December the Rostov Region took an active part in the international exhibition "Food Africa" ​​in Cairo. The Rostov Region stand presented products from 25 Don food producers. A number of contracts with foreign partners were signed at the event for a total of 180.8 million US dollars.
During the negotiations between the Don and Egyptian delegations in Moscow, special attention was paid to the export of agricultural products with high added value and the organization of joint ventures.
"Rostov Region produces all the main types of food, and we are interested in increasing the volume of exports to Egypt. First of all, these are products of the food and processing industry," summed up Konstantin Rachalovsky.
For their part, representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt expressed their readiness to cooperate.
