pionerprodukt.by continues to publish a series of videos from AgroExpedition "Agriculture of Kazakhstan". In this video, we will attend a round table and talk about sheep breeding with Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Eragy Gishlarkaev, Baurzhan Ospanov, Umirbek Akhmetov, Amangeldy Turabaev, Temirkhan Kenzhebaev and other experts on agriculture in Kazakhstan.
This round table was held as part of the International Livestock Exhibition LEPSI-2022.
Umirbek Akhmetov says that the farm has 10 thousand horses of Novoaltai, Mugalzhar, local Kazakh breeds, Soviet heavy trucks, the cattle population is represented by 20 thousand heads of Herefords and Aberdeen Angus.
The sheep breeding direction of the enterprise is represented by 40 thousand heads, while the planned number is 100 thousand ewes. Half of the sheep population is represented by the Kazakh coarse wool breed of the meat-fat direction and the Kazakh fine-wool breed. Last year, sires of such breeds as suffolk, texel, dorper, zwartbles and others were brought from abroad for scientific selection work. And also sheep-producers and sheep of the Edilbaev breed were purchased in Kazakhstan.
The enterprise conducts large-scale scientific and practical work, which at the same time has a serious economic basis.
During the inspection of the flocks, control weighings of several groups of ewes covered with different rams were carried out: texel, suffolk and edelbay. Under the same conditions of keeping, the largest weight gain, and hence greater profitability, was shown by sheep obtained from edilbay, even minus the weight of fat tail, which some countries do not buy.
All breeding work began when it became clear that the livestock left from the Soviet era does not meet the current market demands. Insufficient yield of meat, there is no marbling in the meat.
According to the ex-Minister of Agriculture, Asylzhan Mamytbekov, the trend towards an increase in the meat direction in animal husbandry is due to the good objective capabilities of the country, and first of all, these are pastures, of which there are about 180 million hectares of various qualities in the republic. Including there are pastures with sparse vegetation, where only a sheep-breeding enterprise can work successfully.
