Chelyabinsk will host the traditional Potato Field Day. Managers, agronomists of potato growing enterprises of the Southern Urals, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Region, scientific institutions will gather at the South Ural Research Institute of Horticulture and Potato Growing to discuss best practices in growing potatoes in the region.
The event will be hosted by Alexander Zavalishchin, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Region. The program of the meeting-seminar includes speeches by the DIRECTOR of the Ural Federal Agrarian Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikita Zezin, the chief agronomist of the Association of Open Ground Vegetable Growers of the Chelyabinsk Region Lidia Smirnova, the HEAD of the South Ural Research Institute of Horticulture and Potato Growing Alexander Raevsky, representatives of the Institute , enterprises selling potato seeds, the South Ural branch of Rosselkhoztsentr.
The program includes a visit to the experimental and production fields of YUUNIISK, where scientists from the institute will talk about the results of potato breeding in the Chelyabinsk region, improving the technology of growing potatoes, and preparing the soil for combine harvesting potatoes.
There will also be an exhibition of specialized agricultural machinery on the field, and a tasting of various varieties of potatoes.
