
On August 5 of this year, a meeting “Epizootic situation in fish farms and water bodies of fishery importance in the Russian Federation. Protecting the HEALTH of fish and ensuring the safety of commercial aquaculture products”. The meeting was held in a face-to-face format on the basis of CJSC Agricultural Breeding Plant Trout (Kislovodsk). The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory and the “Public Industry Association in the Field of Aquaculture (Fish Farming) “State Cooperative Association of Fisheries (Rosrybkhoz)”.
The stated purpose of the meeting is to coordinate work to ensure the epizootic well-being of the territory of the Russian Federation in terms of diseases of fish and other aquatic organisms, increase production volumes, and expand the types and geography of aquaculture.
The meeting was attended by heads and specialists of large fish farms of the Russian Federation (agricultural breeding plant "Trout" (Kislovodsk), "Biserovsky fish factory" (Moscow region), fishery company "Diana" (Vologda region), LLC "Russian Sea - Aquaculture" ( Murmansk region), breeding fish farm "NC Selection Center", farms of the Rostov region, Perm Territory, the Republic of Crimea, etc.), territorial departments of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR, executive authorities and veterinary services of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, educational institutions and industry science. Vladimir Melnikov, HEAD of the reference laboratory for aquaculture diseases, took part in the Council on behalf of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Federal Center for Animal Health" subordinate to Rosselkhoznadzor. In total, more than 100 people attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the following issues were considered: the epizootic situation in fish farms and fishery reservoirs of the Russian Federation; measures to create a favorable habitat for growing aquaculture objects; health protection of breeding fish; production of domestic feed and medicines for industrial aquaculture; viral diseases in aquaculture: diagnosis, prevention, treatment; problems and ways of producing safe products, etc. Among the speakers were: Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory Sitnikov V.N., Chairman of the Board of the Association Rosrybhoz Glushchenko V.D., Deputy DIRECTOR of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “NTsBRP” of the Rosselkhoznadzor Adiatulin I.F., Deputy Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Veterinary Center" Kapustin S.I., head of the branch of the FGBNU "VNIRO" (VNIIPRKh) Myshkin A.V., Vice-President of the Association "Astrakhanrybhoz" Zubarev S.A. and etc.
Chairman of the Board of the Association Rosrybhoz Glushchenko V.D. in his speech, he recalled that according to the Strategy for the Development of the Fishery Complex of the Russian Federation until 2030, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated November 26, 2019 No. 2798-r, the volume of commercial aquaculture production (including planting material) by 2030 should be increased by compared to 2018 by 2 times to 618 thousand tons.
Chief Specialist of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Leningrad Region Zhdamirov V.N. said that due to abnormally hot weather in the Leningrad region, the loss of trout breeders amounted to more than 50 tons of marketable fish.
Vladimir Melnikov, Head of the Reference Laboratory for Aquaculture Diseases of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “ARRIAH”, presented the report “Main Viral Diseases in Aquaculture”. The meeting participants were provided with up-to-date information on the situation with viral diseases of aquatic organisms and reported on the activities of the FGBI “ARRIAH” to ensure the epizootic well-being of the territory of the Russian Federation in terms of diseases of fish and other aquatic organisms. The presented information aroused great interest of the participants of the meeting.
